Updates - Protect Your Site

I don't know about you, but when I was securing my WordPress site, and I had been researching to find out what others were doing to maintain their blog safe, I found information that I was completely confused. And some of the information was actually over the top or superstitious. People told me to rename this file, rename this folder and install these ten plugins. It seemed to be a bit of energy and work.



I back up my blogs frequently using a plugin WP DB Backup. If anything happens I can restore my website to the settings. I use WP Security Scan plugin that is free to scan my site regularly and WordPress Firewall to block requests that are suspicious-looking to fix malware problems free.

Don't make the mistake of believing that your web host will have your back as far as WordPress backups go. Not always. It's been my experience that the company may or might not be doing proper backups while they say that they do. Take that kind of chance?

Exclude pages - This plugin adds a checkbox,"include this page in menus", which can be checked by default. If you uncheck it, imp source the page won't appear in any listings of pages (which contains, and is usually restricted to, your webpage navigation menus).

Now we are getting into matters. You must rename it to config.php and modify the document config-sample.php, when you install WordPress. You need to set up the database facts there.

Don't use wp_ as a prefix for your databases. Most web hosting providers are eliminating that default now but if yours does click here to read not, adjust wp_ to anything else but that.
